Anarchist Black Cross Olga Taratuta Shirt
Big up anarchist women and don a slice of anarchism history with this Anarchist Black Cross shirt featuring an illustrated portrait of Olga Taratuta. One of the first organisers of an Anarchist Black Cross group in Eastern Europe. Design by anarchist artist N.O. Bonzo.
About the design
Olga Taratuta (1876–1938) was a Ukrainian Jewish anarchist and a founder of the Anarchist Black Cross. Taratuta joined the Social Democratic Labour Party during its founding in 1898, but within a few years moved towards more radical anarchist positions. She became a leading figure in the Odesa anarchist communist movement, organising against Russian imperial officials. Check out this article for more on her life.
About the ABC
The Anarchist Black Cross is notable for its efforts at providing prisoners with political literature, but it also organises material and legal support for class struggle prisoners worldwide. The ABC commonly contrasts itself with Amnesty International, which is concerned mainly with prisoners of conscience and refuses to defend those accused of encouraging violence. (via Wikipedia)
