Two talks for your trouble

A little something for the weekend: Two of the Building user Groups in Freedom are hosting Saturday evening talks on Saturday…

Radical Care and Trauma in Activism
6.30pm at Decentre, 2nd floor, Freedom Building, 84b Angel Alley, London E9 7QX

A discussion and guide on practical approaches to taking care and tackling repeated trauma in pursuit of our ideals.

How do we create a culture of radical self-care and care for others? How can we nourish and sustain ourselves, our communities and our actions in the face of persistent alienation, domination and oppression?

Suvaco Hansen was an anarchopunk squatter in Copenhagen in the late 80s before deciding it was not radical enough. He then spent two decades as a forest monk in South East Asia, before retraining as a psychotherapist. This ain’t no hippie bullshit.

Join us for talk, tea and discussion until 8pm.

What Books Do in Prison: A Conversation with Erwin James to Celebrate Haven Distribution’s 20th Anniversary
7pm at Housmans, 5 Caledonian Road, London N1

Haven has been purchasing and supplying books for prisoners across the UK since 1996. A tiny volunteer-run charity, it is the only UK organisation dedicated to sending books to those in prisons, secure units and detention centres who want to further their education.

Erwin James is Editor-in-Chief of Inside Time, the national newspaper for people in prison.
