It’s London the early 1990s. A fearful woman close to retirement rings a late night radio station with a jokey phone-in of “Who do you fear coming to the door?” She is fobbed off as a ‘mumbler’ by radio jock Steve but is murdered the very same night by a distinctly unromantic and boring serial killer.

He then sets his sights on Marjorie the 60+ photogenic mistress of a 1960s high-profile villain long dead. She herself is fending off renewed media interest in herself instigated by old time associates and hangers-on. Meanwhile, Steve builds a media career out of his guilt over the killing and is joined by another careerist, one of those who has been pursuing Marjorie. Marjorie’s own love life is in sharp contrast to the repetitive fetish of the killer…
